ROUVY Goes on Safari
ROUVY, the indoor cycling app which lets users ride real routes around the world, is inviting riders to try out its newest course, which takes the virtual tourism aspect of the platform to new levels.
In collaboration with Safari Park Dvůr Králové in ROUVY’s home country of Czechia, and forming part of a campaign to drive awareness and donations to aid the park with its vital wildlife conservation work protecting a variety of endangered African species, users can now experience a vibrant safari tour in high definition, from their own indoor trainer. This unique route takes in 6.12km and a 118m total elevation gain along one of the most distinctive indoor cycling rides ever created.
Building on the popularity of ROUVY routes which feature organic interactions with wild animals such as kangaroos in Australia and deer in the Redwood forests of the US, the Safari Park Dvůr Králové route features animals from around the world including lions, herons, pelicans, watusi, eland antelopes, horse antelopes, zebras, giraffes and wildebeest.
Antonin Parma, ROUVY Product Experience Director, ‘ROUVY’s technical capability to transport users around the world by turning high quality video footage into rideable augmented reality landscapes, has so far allowed us to build a library of some of the most engaging virtual road routes. This latest project takes this concept to a whole new level, offering an experience never seen before from the saddle of a bike! What’s more, it allows us to raise awareness around a great cause, and support important endangered animal breeding and conservation work’.
'Protecting species and their natural habitats and even bringing them from the brink of extinction as we do in the case of the northern white rhino and several other species is one of the most important roles of modern zoos. Raising awareness is key to creating funds for this fundamental work. We are happy to team up on this with Rouvy and their extensive community of cycling fans. I personally find this to be a unique new and cool way to do so.We have never allowed anyone to cycle in our safari in the past, and – for obvious safety reasons – most likely never will. However, our new project allows anyone to experience what others can only do in their own cars or in our designated Afrika trucks or Safaribuses. So enjoy the ride and help us to save the species from extinction', says Jan Stejskal, Head of International Projects of Safari Park Dvůr Králové

About Safari Park Dvůr Králové
Safari Park Dvur Králové is the most important refuge of African animals outside their wild homeland. SAFARI PARK is the most successful breeder of rhinos, African wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and many other animals from around the world. Extraordinary breeding programs stand on the foundations laid by the legendary Josef Vágner, who brought thousands of animals directly from Africa more than 50 years ago. His dream and goal was to breed the animals and later return them to the wild.
Since the 90s, over 100 large animals have returned to Africa, including rhinos, critically endangered antelopes and buffaloes. Wildlife protection projects in Africa are supported by everyone who buys a ticket to the SAFARI PARK.
The park is extraordinary as it offers Central Europe's only true safari. Animal lovers can even stay in the park’s resort for several days.
