londoncyclefestival & VIA CRITERIUM brings bike racing back to the capital with hugely successful weekend of cycling

Datapoints from an incredible weekend celebrating cycling in the capital

June 2024, London - This weekend saw a festival of all things cycling take over King's Cross & Coal Drops Yard under the summer sunshine.

The three days drew in huge crowds, with 47,000 people visiting the King’s Cross Estate and over 15,000 making their presence felt, seen and heard around the racing on Saturday alone. On the course, 1,000 racers lined up across various race formats at the londoncyclefestival, including the VIA CRITERIUM men’s and women’s elite circuit races and the Brompton World Championships.

Alongside the fast, exhilarating race action, the inaugural londoncyclefestival showcased a host of established and up-and-coming brands from across the industry, proving a draw with visitors over the three days. With the latest gear on show, bike demos on offer, interactive events and more - there was something for the whole family.

The event was a huge celebration of how vibrant the cycling community is within London right now, a welcome return of bike racing to the capital.

"The VIA team would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that came down to KingsCross to Race, Ride, Support and generally have a good time. After last years race was marred by poor weather this year karma put things straight. The music and vibes were delivered by MJCole and DJP on Friday and North London Dirt on Saturday. It was great to see everyone from the future stars on Sunday with a full junior program to the Brompton World Championships, VIA FIX Friday and the Elite men’s and women’s Saturday."

Plans are already being finalised for the 2025 edition of the event with dates set to be announced soon. For more information, visit https://www.via-atelier.cc/pages/via-criterium.
