Race or adventure. Why choose?
- New bike features 970g high modulus carbon fibre frame with 2.2” tire clearance
- Designed to strike the perfect balance between speed, capability and comfort
- Frameset will retail from €5200 / $5200 with full builds from €6500 / $6500
12th August, Oslo, Norway - Fara Cycling, the Norwegian performance adventure cycling brand, has today announced their fourth generation gravel bike, the Gr4. A category-defying gravel bike engineered to deliver race-ready speed and long-distance capability in one lightweight platform.
Born and refined in Oslo, a gravel paradise that serves as a gateway to thousands of kilometres of unpaved roads, technical trails and remote wilderness. The Gr4 is the result of nearly a decade of exploration, competition and design evolution.
In that time, Fara’s bikes have proven themselves on both ends of the drop bar off-road spectrum, with race wins at high-octane races like The Traka, as well as top results at most demanding ultra-endurance events on the planet, including Badlands, the Atlas Mountain Race and the Transcontinental Race.

This breadth of experience shaped a unique design philosophy:
What if the industry’s obsession with bringing the stiffness and aero gains from road racing to gravel missing the bigger picture? Should we instead be prioritising capability, confidence and comfort over real-world terrain?
Finally, with only a small minority pinning on a race number, what are the best features of gravel and ultra racing that are valuable for the everyday rider?
After tens of thousands of kilometres of in-house development and elite athlete testing, Fara found the answer in the Gr4.

Multi-Faceted by Design
With the Gr4, Fara challenges the trend of making different bikes to cater to specific gravel disciplines. Instead they’ve drawn on characteristics typical of bikes across the range of gravel riding to create a Goldilocks bike that works for racing, off-grid exploration and everything in between.
Shorter chainstays allow for a responsive, nimble ride while huge tire clearance ensures racers and adventurers alike aren’t held back when it comes to choosing their rubber. The geometry allows for both aggressive racing positions and more relaxed ultra distance fits, with Fara’s Modular Cockpit (included on all builds and framesets) available in several sizes to perfectly match riders preferred style of riding and fit.

Jeff Webb, founder of Fara Cycling said:
“We didn’t want to force riders to choose between a bike that’s built for racing and one that’s built for exploration, with the Gr4, we worked with our athletes and designers to create something that excels at both. A lightweight, responsive frame with huge tire clearance and refined ergonomics make it perfect for modern gravel racing, exploration and everyday riding alike.”
An Evolution in Gravel Performance
The previous F/Gravel was already a capable bike even by today’s standards. Launched in 2021, it was one of the first gravel specific bikes to feature 50mm tire clearance and the now ubiquitous ‘stash hatch’ frame storage. It also proved to be race-worthy, gaining a pedigree after being ridden to multiple podium positions at Elite level races around the globe by Simen Nordahl Svendsen.

The new Gr4 takes this forward thinking approach and refines it further. The new bike features massive 2.2” tire clearance, putting it at the cutting edge of current thinking in regards to speed and comfort. While the new carbon fibre frame marks a step change for Fara’s frame technology - cutting over 200g from the previous edition by using improved layup and curing processes involving strategic use of high modulus Torayca T1000 and M40X fibres. When updates across the frame, fork, seatpost and modular cockpit are taken into account, total system weight has been reduced by nearly 500g.
Despite the svelte 970g weight, the frame and fork feature the full range of cargo mounts and hidden fender mounts as well as co-molded T47 inboard BB threads. An improved in-frame storage system in the downtube keeps essentials out of the wind when racing but easily to hand when required.
Fara Modular Cockpit

The Fara Modular Cockpit has been designed with improved ergonomics and adaptability in mind. Engineered to provide improved comfort over longer distances, including additional flexibility for covering rugged surfaces.
Ergonomics are enhanced by a backsweep and drop from the stem to neutrally align the wrists, elbows and shoulders. While there are multiple defined hand positions across the bar, Flare angles increase throughout the range of bar widths, from 8 degree to 12 on the widest, adventure oriented size. All of which combines to allow the rider to find their optimal hold at any point during even the longest days out in the saddle. The flat interface between bar and stem is securely fastened by four bolts and allows for 10mm fore-aft reach adjustment. The adjustable bolt positions also serve as mounting points for accessories such as Aerobars (sold separately) for a seamless switch to a long distance set up.
