Experience the Routes of Rwanda at Home with ROUVY
, Prague - ROUVY, the indoor cycling app that brings the world's most iconic routes to life and empowers users to ride, train, and explore anywhere from home, continues to open up a world of riding possibilities with the introduction of augmented reality routes from Kigali, Rwanda. This further reinforces ROUVY’s mission to map the world and bring real routes from all corners of the globe to life on the app, to then discover at home.
Alongside providing virtual access to stunning, yet scarcely accessible, landscapes for the fast-growing number of riders turning to ROUVY for both training and escapism, the new routes are also providing a useful preparation tool for September’s World Championships.

This year, the World Championships head to Rwanda for the very first time, covering a region of stunning routes largely unknown to most of the cycling world. From 21 to 28 September 2025, Kigali - the first African city to host the championships - will see the world’s best cyclists go head-to-head on one of the most demanding courses in the event’s history. Featuring relentless climbing, technical descents, and a historic standalone U23 women’s road race.
ROUVY’s new routes capture every metre of the punishing Mur du Kigali cobbled ascent, the rolling 15.1 km Kigali circuit, plus additional scenic routes around Rwanda, including Ruhondo Lake and Karongi mountain, giving cyclists worldwide the opportunity to prepare for riding Africa’s first World Championships without leaving home.
Pros Using ROUVY for Championship Recon
With security, cost, and scheduling concerns making early travel to Rwanda impractical for many teams, some pro riders are already turning to ROUVY for insight into the race routes. By riding the exact roads in realistic augmented reality detail, complete with authentic elevation profiles, athletes can get an edge on their competition.
Riding the World Championships for Belgium, Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider Victor Campenaerts said: “Course knowledge can make or break race preparation, so having the ability to get accustomed to these routes in advance of heading to Rwanda is hugely valuable. It’s also pretty cool that, alongside being able to arrive in Kigali already knowing much of the race route, riders from all around the world can also experience routes they would not normally ever get a chance to ride.”
