Data-driven, WorldTour-proven: MAAP brings race-winning proprietary technology from the WorldTour to riders everywhere with new PRO Aero Jersey

  • PRO Aero Jersey developed alongside GreenEDGE Cycling and ridden to multiple UCI WorldTour victories now available to the public
  • Utilises an MAAP’s proprietary AARTERO Flyte™ fabric to enhance aerodynamic performance above 40 km/h
  • Precision Jacquard-woven sleeve channels ensure aerodynamic performance that never washes out, degrades, or delaminates.

21st October, Melbourne - MAAP, the Melbourne-based premium cycling apparel brand, has unveiled the next evolution of MAAP:PRO engineering with the launch of the PRO Aero Jersey featuring its new proprietary AATERO FLYTE™ fabric. Developed exclusively with Team Jayco AlUla and Liv AlUla Jayco (GreenEDGE Cycling), proven on the WorldTour and now available to riders everywhere.

Every detail, every weave, and every watt counts in the creation of performance apparel worthy of WorldTour competition. The PRO Aero Jersey is the culmination of countless iterations and testing with the GreenEDGE cycling teams to create the fastest, lightest and coolest jersey possible.

Engineered around three core principles of uncompromised speed, thermoregulation and comfort, the PRO Aero Jersey combines innovative fabric technology, pro rider feedback and MAAP’s design expertise to unleash race winning performance.

Integrated air-channelled sleeves featuring MAAP’s proprietary AATERO FLYTE™ fabric minimise drag and flow separation above 40 km/h, and details including raw-cut sleeve hems featuring internal silicone grippers ensure stability at race pace. The ultra-breathable construction uses hydrophobic fibres to greatly enhance cooling, limiting heat related performance losses while an anti-irritation ergonomic neckline and bonded three-pocket system complete a comfortable yet streamlined fit built for performance.

Team Jayco AlUla rider Luke Plapp on the PRO Aero Jersey:

"You can feel how well it manages heat when you’re pushing hard – it keeps you cool without sacrificing any aero gains. It’s been a big step up for us this season. The team at MAAP did a great job of keeping our needs and feedback at the core of the product design."

At the heart of the PRO Aero Jersey is AARTERO Flyte™ - MAAP’s new proprietary aero fabric. An impossibly thin proprietary matrix weaved fabric born from relentless testing, race-proven results, and a shared commitment to elite human performance. An innovation worn by Ben O’Connor, Mavi García, Chris Harper, and Luke Plapp as they each claimed WorldTour victories at the world’s biggest races.

Aerodynamics at the Elite level is a battle between drag and thermal regulation. The faster the rider, the greater the heat load; the higher the effort, the larger the aerodynamic penalty. To address this MAAP engineered AARTERO Flyte™ as a solution that minimises drag while precisely regulating body temperature under the stress of race conditions.

Before AARTERO Flyte™ took final form, sixteen prototypes were created, tested, and refined - each iteration pushing the limits of yarn density, rib geometry, fit mapping, and thermal efficiency. The end result is constructed from an ultra-thin 20-micron fibre matrix weighing just 100 g/m².

The primary source of aerodynamic gains is the 3D ribbed sleeve channels, smoothing out turbulent airflow and delaying the airflow separation across the arms and shoulders that typically slows riders down. In testing, the fabric achieved savings of 6–8 watts over 100km - equivalent to up to 60 seconds gained without additional effort. Invisible in feel, measurable in advantage.

The jersey’s sleeve channels are created through precision Jacquard weaving. A method informed by MAAP’s Italian production partners with over two decades of aerodynamic textile research. The performance properties are built into the weave itself, ensuring they never wash out, degrade, or delaminate.

The fabric resists abrasion and deformation through high-twist yarn tensioning that distributes stress evenly across the surface. The result - a fabric that feels weightless on the start line yet endures race after race, wash after wash.

AARTERO Flyte™ and the Pro Aero Jersey also advance MAAP’s commitment to sustainability. The fabric employs a solvent-free elastomer, significantly reducing chemical impact during production and improving recyclability while its durability reduces waste and supports a lower total environmental footprint. Produced in Italy and certified under the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard, AARTERO Flyte™ and the PRO Aero Jersey are high performance with reduced impact.

The PRO Aero Jersey is available from maap.cc, MAAP LaBs worldwide and select MAAP retailers for £210 / $265 / €220 / $345 AUD
