Couple Set Sights on Record-Breaking Around-the-World Cycling Challenge

28th April 2026, Derby - Endurance cyclists Amy and Kyle Hudson are preparing to embark on an extraordinary around-the-world cycling challenge, attempting to become the fastest couple to circumnavigate the world by bike. Setting off from their home in Derbyshire on 1st May 2026, the duo plan to cover approximately 18,000 miles (28,968 km) in just 150 to 180 days, significantly under the current world record of 205 days.

The route will take them across multiple continents, passing through France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Bangkok, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Canada, the USA, Portugal, Spain and France again, before finishing back home in the UK between late September and mid-October.

Riding self-supported and carrying all of their own equipment, Amy and Kyle will tackle an estimated 470,435 ft (143,389 metres) of elevation gain and will need to average around 220km / 136 miles per day, maintaining speeds of approximately 20 km/h.

Beyond the physical feat, the challenge has a deeper and meaningful purpose. The couple are looking to raise over £50,000 for mental health charity Shout and The Mix. Their journey to this point has had its own adversity, with both Amy and Kyle crediting cycling as a transformative hobby in their lives. Amy has previously battled an eating disorder and mental health challenges, while Kyle overcame a difficult upbringing that included periods of homelessness before finding direction with cycling after meeting and supporting Amy with her cycling.

“This challenge is about more than just breaking a record,” said Amy Hudson. “Cycling has saved my life, and we want to use this platform to inspire others and raise awareness for mental health. Last year's Tour de France challenge pushed me hard, but this is going to be about finding the limit of what is possible.”
“This isn’t just a physical test, it’s something that will challenge us mentally both individually and as a couple,” Kyle Hudson added. “ We’ll be drawing on everything we’ve been through and leaning on our resilience together. There will be tough moments, no doubt, but that’s exactly where we do our best.”

Amy is no stranger to such extreme endurance challenges. In 2025, she completed her own version of the Tour de France, riding every stage and the transfers in between each stage, an immense solo effort that tested her physically and mentally. This time, she is joined by Kyle, making the challenge a shared test of partnership and perseverance.

ROUVY, the cycling app that lets you ride real-world routes around the world, has supported the challenge and played a key role in both riders’ preparation. Through virtual training rides across worldwide routes, Amy and Kyle have been able to recon and gain valuable insight into the regions they will encounter. ROUVY is also supporting the challenge with a $15,000 donation to the chosen charities.

Additional partners supporting the challenge include CAMS, Pinarello and Santini, all contributing to the riders’ equipment and preparation.

Supporters will be able to follow Amy and Kyle’s progress in real time via a live tracking link and regular updates from Amy's Instagram.
