Couple Complete Record-Breaking Around-the-World Cycling Challenge 82 Days Ahead of Previous World Record
4th September 2026 – Endurance cyclists Amy and Kyle Hudson have made history, becoming the fastest married couple and mixed pair ever to circumnavigate the world by bike. The pair completed their journey in an incredible 123 days - 82 days ahead of the previous record.
Having set off from their home in Derbyshire on 1st May, Amy and Kyle have spent the past four months cycling across multiple continents in a self-supported attempt to complete the 18,000-mile (28,968 km) journey around the world.
Over the course of the challenge, they have averaged around 153 miles (246 km) every day, with just six rest days across their entire journey, burning on average around 6,500 calories per day. All this whilst carrying their own equipment and facing everything from extreme weather, border crossings, busy roads and the mental and physical strain of sustaining such a demanding pace.
“There have been so many moments where we’ve questioned how we were going to keep going, but we always found a way,” said Amy Hudson. “To now be back home having actually done it is something I don’t think either of us can quite believe yet.”
“Finishing ahead of the record is amazing, but for me the biggest achievement is what we’ve been through together,” Kyle Hudson added. “There have been some really hard days, physically and mentally, but we’ve always had each other. We’ve had to dig deeper than we ever have before, and getting to the finish together makes everything worthwhile.”
Amy and Kyle set out to raise over £50,000 for mental health charities Shout and The Mix, with their fundraising total now surpassing that target.
The charities were chosen because of Amy and Kyle’s shared belief in the importance of accessible mental health support. Both have experienced significant challenges in their own lives, with Amy previously battling an eating disorder and her own mental health, while Kyle overcame a difficult upbringing that included periods of homelessness. Their journey has given them an opportunity to share their message with supporters around the world, while raising vital funds for causes close to their hearts.
After months on the road, thousands of hours in the saddle and a journey spanning the globe, Amy and Kyle were joined by fellow cyclists and supporters for the final 10 miles of their challenge, riding together from Barton Marina in Burton upon Trent to The Sudbury Stables in Ashbourne. There, they were welcomed home by friends, family and their dog, Chester, bringing their record-breaking adventure to an emotional end.
ROUVY, the real-world cycling app, supported the challenge and played a key role in both riders’ preparation. Using the platform, Amy and Kyle were able to recon routes and gain valuable insight into the regions they would encounter during their journey. ROUVY is also supporting the challenge with a $15,000 donation to the riders’ chosen charities.
Additional partners supporting the challenge included CAMS, Pinarello and Santini, each contributing to the riders’ equipment and preparation.
